Mike on KARE 11 with Pat Evans: Mike’s new book and hope and unity for all

KARE 11’s Pat Evans begins this interview saying, “What Are the Odds? From Crack Addict to CEO is a crazy story that reads like a book and maybe that is why Mike Lindell wrote a book about his life. He is the creator of the successful MyPillow, but that’s only one chapter in his life. This local businessman is joining us today to share the story in his brand new memoir.”

Childhood wounds lead to drug addiction

Mike’s book takes you back to when Mike was a kid. His parents divorced when he was seven, back when divorces weren’t common. He got put into a new school in Chaska, Minnesota. Due to the divorce and not fitting into the school, Mike developed low self-worth, which created a behavior pattern where he would either not talk to people (“because you don’t get rejected if you don’t talk to people”) or he would show off, saying things like, “Hey, watch me climb out of this bus window.”

This low self-worth caused him to start cocaine in the early 80s since, with cocaine, he could talk to people. Mike believes addiction comes from childhood wounds and sees how, in his own life, his feelings of unworthiness led him to drugs.

The picture on Mike’s book cover

Mike was a functioning cocaine addict for quite a while, but then he got into crack cocaine in the early 2000s. His crack habit got so bad that his drug dealers actually did an intervention on him after Mike had been up for 14 days. They totally cut Mike off: he couldn’t buy crack anywhere.

Then one of the dealers took Mike’s picture and said, “You’ve been telling us for years that your pillow is just a platform for God and that you’re going to come back and help us all someday. We are not going to let you die.” This picture is now on the cover of Mike’s new book.

All proceeds from Mike’s memoir go towards helping addicts

Mike self-published his new memoir because he “didn’t want any middlemen.” Instead, he wanted all the proceeds to go towards helping addicts through his new network that is coming out soon, the Lindell Recovery Network™. This network is going to “help addicts find hope” and help “wipe out addiction in this country.”

Hope and unity for all

Mike believes that his new book will help everyone “have hope and know what can be done with God. For, with God all things are possible. Anyone that reads this book is going to feel hope.”

Mike wants hope and unity for all and believes that faith is the foundation for this.
